Health & Safety Policy
At Pinnacle Roofing NZ Ltd, we are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Our health and safety policy is designed to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its regulations in New Zealand.
The following outlines our commitment to health and safety:
1. Responsibility and Accountability:
Management, supervisors, and employees all share responsibility for health and safety.
Management will provide leadership, resources, and support to ensure a safe working environment.
Supervisors will ensure that safe work practices are followed and provide necessary training and supervision.
Employees are responsible for following safety procedures, reporting hazards, and actively participating in safety initiatives.
2. Risk Management:
We will identify and assess workplace hazards, including those specific to roofing activities and working at height.
Risk assessments will be conducted regularly, and control measures will be implemented to eliminate or minimise risks.
Safe work procedures and practices, including those outlined in Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSP), will be developed and communicated to all workers.
3. Training and Education:
All employees will receive appropriate health and safety training, including induction training for new employees.
Training will cover hazards specific to roofing work, including the risks associated with working at height, use of fall protection equipment, and emergency procedures.
Employees will have access to examples of SSSP documents completed for each site worked on to understand safety checks and measures and to avoid risks.
4. Incident Reporting and Investigation:
All incidents, near misses, and hazards will be reported promptly using our incident reporting procedures.
Investigations will be conducted to determine the root cause of incidents and to implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, with particular attention to incidents involving working at height.
5. Consultation and Participation:
We value the input of our workers and will consult with them on health and safety matters, including working at height.
Workers are encouraged to actively participate in health and safety initiatives, including suggesting improvements and identifying hazards related to working at height.
6. Health and Wellbeing:
We are committed to promoting the physical and mental wellbeing of our workers, including those engaged in working at height activities.
Measures will be in place to prevent occupational illness and to support workers' mental health, especially those exposed to the additional risks of working at height.
7. Compliance:
We will comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards, including those specific to working at height.
Regular audits and reviews will be conducted to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement in working at height safety practices.
8. Emergency Preparedness:
Emergency procedures will be in place, including evacuation plans, first aid provisions, and training for emergency responders, with specific consideration for incidents involving working at height.
Emergency drills will be conducted regularly to ensure preparedness for all workers, especially those involved in working at height activities.
9. Subcontractors and Visitors:
Subcontractors and visitors to our workplaces will be informed of relevant health and safety procedures and expected to comply with them, particularly when working at height.
We will ensure that subcontractors have appropriate health and safety systems in place, including procedures for working safely at height.
10. Continuous Improvement:
We are committed to continuously improving our health and safety performance through regular review, feedback, and the implementation of best practices, including those related to working at height safety.
This health and safety policy will be reviewed annually or as necessary to ensure its effectiveness and relevance to our operations, particularly in relation to working at height activities.
All employees and contractors are expected to familiarise themselves with this policy and to actively contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, especially when working at height.
Additionally, examples of completed SSSP documents for each site will be made available for reference to ensure that safety checks and measures are understood and followed to avoid risks.
